I'll I wanted, I was kind of playing in the band and I thought, "That's really what I want to do."Marie Field: For Anthony's first Christmas, I bought him a record by "The Beatles" called "She Loves You". And so I think in the back of my mind, I always thought. As young children, The Wiggles all learnt a musical instrument and were encouraged to get involved in music.Murray: I was music mad all my life, really.

And I'm not exactly a sort of it you know sort of a twinkle toes myself, but moving and standing covered in sweat and trusting my hands in the air and just thinking "This is rock'n'roll as it was meant to be."John Field: The Cockies has some great years, you know. Baker: I can remember going and seeing "The Cockroaches". It was emotional stopping of the fun. And so that was an emotional death knell for us all, you know, in a way. And then we had a personal, deep personal tragedy of Paul's baby dying which affected us all, especially, of course, Paul.

And I just got out of the army, nothing to do. I drove the car that dropped her off there. And that was a time when Anthony decided to embark on this preschool teaching course.Anthony: My sister, Colleen, was doing a test, of mature-age test for the Institute of Early Childhood Studies.

One of The Wiggles' greatest hits came from this experience. We kind of gravitated together partly because of our background in music but also just because in the course we were doing, there was about 500 students if which 495 were female and the other five were guys.Gretel Kileen: Having met at university and with music a common ground, Anthony, Murray, Greg and Jeff got together with Anthony's brother John to busk. I'd finished my first year. Three of them were strong practically and they were strong theoretically.Murray: I first met Anthony at university. As it went on, I learnt all about how children think, children development, child psychology and the importance of play in the children's lives.Kathleen Warren: Murray, Greg and Anthony were good students. I always related well the kids and I think it's a really great profession.Anthony: It was a fantastic course.

So I actually said to the boys, just said, "Just follow me." And I said, "Just repeat what I say." At the time, I sang. And we had done it 20 times that morning, you know? And I had an idea the day before about a call and response song. And done we used to do The Four Seasons' great song, "Rag Doll".

(laughs) We just went, "Thank you, thank you, thank you." So I said, "Let's try that next time." And again on the Mary ferry the next time, it just. (He strums his chords on acoustic guitar) And then.Which is a bit little bit of vaudeville trickery, and we finished the song and it rained money. I had been studying vaudeville music at the time for some reason, and I noticed they used to flatten their sixth chord, si I went. And they'd sing, "Hot Tomale".And then.

We could put a bit of music that had of a rock'n'roll beat and also incorporate what we'd learnt about children and what they like and what they respond to.
